WHAT IS THE FUND?

The Innovation Fund is an opportunity for members of the Oklahoma Media Center to receive stipends designed to test new business models and find new ways to engage and reach diverse audiences. It is a program of the Local Media Foundation (LMF), designed to support journalism projects that will inform and educate the citizens of Oklahoma.

WHO FUNDS?

The Inasmuch Foundation has provided the funds to LMF to execute and manage this program.

WHAT IS THE TOTAL FUND AMOUNT?

We expect the average stipend to be around $5,000, with special consideration given for collaborative projects. The Innovation Fund total is up to $100,000, depending on the number of applications.

WHAT ARE THE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS?

Applications must include a brief summary (200-300 words or less), proposal and budget (see link to form below).

WHAT TO INCLUDE?

Be sure to explain the following points:

    1. Describe your project and what you hope to accomplish.
    2. What makes this project innovative?
    3. What is your plan and how will you execute it?
    4. How will you collaborate with new partners or engage with a diversified audience?
    5. Why are you uniquely qualified to get this stipend?

BUDGET GUIDELINES:

Please provide a specific and detailed budget of expenses of your innovation plan. Stipends will not cover operational expenses such as office space rental, office supplies, staffing and equipment purchase. The fund will pay for items such as software licenses, third party vendors or marketing needs related to the project.
