Solving Sacramento

Solving Sacramento is a journalism collaborative that produces community news and solutions-focused coverage for Sacramento residents.

We work with local contributors to produce journalism from a solutions perspective, which offers an antidote to the typical doom-and-gloom coverage that contributes to audiences’ news burnout. Our small editorial team works everyday to rebuild trust in the media among our community members.

We have seven partners in our collaborative, which means our work is distributed by long-standing journalism institutions in our community. By supplying our readers with stories centered on solutions, we aim to cultivate hope among residents, who then feel empowered — and equipped — to make positive change for Sacramento. We also aim to build up the next generation of local journalists to serve our region.

We cover affordable housing, homelessness, economic equity, education, health, arts and the environment. We also have a monthly arts and culture podcast called “Creativity in the Capital,” a “Sac Art Pulse” print zine, two newsletters and Hangout Gigs, our video music series.

Here’s a look at some of the recent content being shared by Solving Sacramento:

• 8 gigs: A punk show and a wrestling match walk into this Sacramento bar in November

• School board members battle it out in a most woke way in CapStage’s ‘Eureka Day’
