12:50 p.m.: 10 ways MCP will transform your news, audience, and revenue operations

Every newsroom sits on a goldmine of archives and audience data, but getting clear answers out of those systems often means wrestling with half a dozen disconnected dashboards. Model Context Protocol (MCP) creates a secure bridge between AI tools (like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude) and your CMS, turning scattered metrics into a tireless newsroom assistant. Instead of spending hours digging through analytics, ask your CMS plain-English questions like “What are the most visited sections of our site this month?”, “Which content types are actually converting visitors into subscribers?”, or “Which of my reporters is driving the most pageviews?”, and receive immediate, actionable answers. In this session, BLOX Digital’s Phil Pracht explores 10 high-impact ways connecting your CMS with MCP drives productivity, sharpens editorial strategy, and reveals new audience revenue streams.

1:10 p.m.: Turning existing journalism into video audiences actually want to watch

For one of the largest news publishers on the planet, the biggest growth lever wasn’t more headlines, it was turning existing journalism into video audiences actually want to watch. In this session, Genna Co-Founder and CEO Lindsay Stewart sits down with Donna Ogier, Director, US Audience at Reach plc, to unpack how Reach is transforming written and produced content into video using real, licensed footage to deepen audience engagement and open new monetization pathways across its platforms.

Audience Track: PART 1 – What Newsrooms Must Do Now to Reach Younger Audiences and Why Journalism’s Future Depends on It

Local TV newsrooms are struggling to reach younger audiences, but there’s a proven model to win them over. Northeastern University’s Reinventing Local TV News Project spent a year embedding Digital Content Creators inside three major-market newsrooms — WCBS, WLS, and WCVB — to produce platform-native content built specifically for social media and digital audiences. The project also surveyed adults 18-34 nationwide to understand how Millennials and Gen Z actually consume local news today.

In this 90-minute hands-on session, Northeastern researchers Mike Beaudet and Lisa Thalhamer join forces with one of their Digital Content Creator Fellows for a two-part deep dive. The first half makes the research-backed case for why the Digital Content Creator role isn’t just a nice-to-have. It’s a lifeline for stations serious about their future. The second half gets practical: The Digital Content Creator walks through what the job actually looks like day-to-day, from shooting tips and tricks to planning content across multiple platforms and formats. Moderators: Lisa Thalhamer and Michael Beaudet, RTDNA Trainers, Northeastern. Introduction by: Colin Benedict, vp and chief innovation officer, Morgan Murphy Media.

Revenue Track: Audience First, Revenue Follows: The New Playbook for Media Sales

This panel is about what happens when you put audience first. Panelists will share real stories about the conversations that changed, the deals that followed, and why prospects who once overlooked local media became some of their best clients.
