Position details: Exempt, 40 hours per week, salaried, employment contract.
Location: Anywhere in the continental United States with reliable broadband internet access. Local Media Association and Local Media Foundation are virtual organizations. Exact work schedule is negotiable, but most LMA/LMF business is conducted weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time.
Starting: Preferably in late July- early August 2025. The position will remain open for applications until filled.
Reports to: Apryl Pilolli, Director of Technology Services, Knight x LMA BloomLab
Compensation: Starting at $75,000 per year depending on experience. Includes 15 days PTO per year, company holidays, benefits including health insurance and 401(k) with employer match, a company-furnished computer, and reimbursement for mobile service and internet access.
About the Role:
The Knight x LMA BloomLab supports Black-owned local media outlets in their digital transformation journeys. We are looking for an impact-driven individual to oversee project execution and provide exceptional customer support to participating publishers. This role is pivotal in ensuring the success of BloomLab’s technology and innovation initiatives by coordinating projects, managing relationships, and delivering outstanding support.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Develop and implement technology project plans and timelines for BloomLab initiatives.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including technology, editorial and business development, to ensure project milestones are met.
- Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Customer Success & Relationship Management:
- Serve as a point of contact for BloomLab participants, addressing inquiries and providing solutions to their concerns.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with participating publishers, understanding their unique needs and challenges.
- Gather feedback to inform the continuous improvement of BloomLab technology services and support mechanisms.
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops to enhance participants’ capabilities in digital media operations.
Strategic Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Technology Director to align project goals with BloomLab’s strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate feedback and insights into program development.
- Contribute to the evolution of BloomLab’s offerings by identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, related field, or equivalent professional experience in media and project/customer success roles.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management or customer support, ideally within the media industry.
- Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities facing Black-owned local media outlets.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Monday, Asana, Trello) and customer relationship management systems.
- Experience working with content management systems, especially WordPress, for updating and managing websites; email service providers such as Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, or similar platforms for building and managing email campaigns and analytics tools, including Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and similar platforms to monitor digital performance and audience insights.
- Willingness to learn new tools and platforms as part of BloomLab’s evolving tech stack
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote environment.
- A growth mindset and eagerness to expand your skills across technology, strategy, and media innovation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in digital media transformation projects.
- Demonstrated experience working with Black-owned or community-focused media organizations.
- Knowledge of advertising and reader revenue business models and tools.
