Dear LMA Friends,

We have 7 members in the path of Hurricane Harvey. Their employees have been working around the clock covering this disaster, while dealing with their own personal trauma. Many have damage to their homes, cars and more. Others will suffer from a decline in income as businesses remain shut down for a while.

We have heard from many of our members in the affected areas. Their stories are heartbreaking. We have established a fund to assist the employees of our media company members. These funds will be divided equally among the members listed below. We’ll leave it up to their CEOs/senior management teams to distribute the funds to those that need it most (they will provide a report back to us on how they used the funds).

We are looking for both personal and company donations. LMA will donate 2 digital sales certification licenses for all donations of $500 or more ($790 value) as well as a financial contribution of $1,000. All donations will be made to the LMA Foundation, and will be tax deductible. The Foundation will pass all of the donated money, minus the small credit card and Go Fund Me processing fees, to the 7 member companies.

The 7 companies affected are:

  • Community Impact, Houston, TX
  • Houston Defender, Houston, TX
  • KRIS/Cordillera, Corpus Christi, TX
  • KAVU/SAGA, Victoria, TX
  • KPRC/Graham Media Group, Houston, TX
  • Sherman Company / American Press: Lake Charles, LA

We caught up with a variety of members whose companies have been impacted by the storm including LMA board members Catherine Badalamente and Dan Easton. In this story, we have featured the conditions they faced and have recognized their amazing journalistic efforts. The story features many of the 7 affected by the storm.

We have their companies and families in our thoughts as they work through this horrible storm.

Thanks for any help that you can give! Donate here!

If we missed any LMA member companies that were affected by Harvey, please let us know right away and we’ll get you added to this list.

Sincerely,

Nancy Lane
