5 scholarships available for Philadelphia Innovation Mission
Three-day trip focuses on consumer revenue strategies and digital transformation

Five scholarships are now available for the upcoming Innovation Mission on Oct. 16-18 for media executives of color. Thanks to the Google News Initiative for providing this fantastic opportunity.
“As we strive to become a more inclusive organization, these scholarships are extremely important,” said Nancy Lane, president, Local Media Association. “We need more diversity at industry events including LMA Innovation Missions. We invite all media executives of color who are interested in consumer revenue strategies and transformation to apply. We can’t thank the Google News Initiative enough for funding this important initiative.”
Applications are due by Sept. 18; winners will be announced on Sept. 23. Members of the LMA diversity and inclusion committee will serve as judges. LMA will pay for the recipients’ travel to Philadelphia; GNI will cover all of the other costs including hotel, meals and transportation throughout the trip.
The trip kicks off with a four-hour session on “best-in-class digital subscriptions” featuring two of the leaders from the GNI Subscriptions Lab (The Houston Chronicle and The Baltimore Sun) along with executives from FTI Consulting, Google and LMA. Day two features visits with various teams at both The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Lenfest Institute. Two extremely innovative broadcasters, Beasley Media Group and WHYY, round out day three.
