Shana Black is a trailblazing entrepreneur and innovator. She has seamlessly transitioned from a dedicated K-12 educator back to a career in media and journalism. With a profound commitment to education and community empowerment, her journey reflects a passion for addressing information gaps within underserved communities.
Shana is the founder of Black Girl Media, as well as a board member of the Local Media Foundation. Shana has worked with First Draft, The Associated Press and NEOSOJO, and PEN America.
Shana holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Media for the University of Mount Union, a Master’s from Indiana Wesleyan, and has completed the Executive Program in News Innovation and Leadership
from the Craig Newmark School of Journalism.
