Director of Funding Initiatives

Kristyn Cooper brings nearly 20 years of experience in fundraising, grant proposal writing, and fund development to her role as Director of Fundraising Initiatives at the Local Media Foundation. She has secured funding from private foundations, corporations, and government agencies, while also leading donor stewardship, annual giving campaigns, and special events.

Most recently, Kristyn served as Grant Writer and Development Manager for the Indiana Center for Prevention of Youth Abuse and Suicide, where she developed comprehensive fundraising strategies, managed grant portfolios, and cultivated donor relationships. She has also worked as a contract grant writer for nonprofits in healthcare, education, arts, social services, and community development.

Kristyn holds a Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. In her new role with Local Media Foundation, she looks forward to leveraging her skills in fundraising strategy, relationship building, and donor engagement to expand support for the Foundation’s innovative initiatives in local journalism.
