Director of Business Development and Partnerships

Linda Bowers is director of business development and partnerships for Solving Sacramento, where she focuses on building sustainable revenue models that support local journalism. Her work centers on sponsorship strategy, branded content, grant development, and cross-sector partnerships that align mission with measurable financial outcomes.

Bowers began her career in newspaper and magazine publishing, managing multi-million-dollar territories and representing both local and national media brands. She was selected by Knight Ridder to train sales teams in consultative strategy and revenue growth, an experience that shaped her approach to aligning business development with long-term organizational health.

In the nonprofit sector, Bowers has led capital campaign strategy, corporate partnership development, naming-rights programs, donor cultivation systems, and event-based fundraising initiatives. She works with boards and executive teams to design practical revenue frameworks that reduce reliance on single funding streams and build durable community support. Her experience spans journalism collaboratives, community foundations, and mission-driven organizations working at the intersection of media, civic engagement, and economic development.

She also serves on the board of the Penn Valley Community Foundation, where she is involved in fundraising and strategic planning for a new community center project in rural Northern California.
