Consultant

Ryan Welton is a digital content strategist, audience growth consultant, and founder of Doable Digital Media, where he helps newsrooms, media organizations, and businesses build sustainable content systems that drive audience, trust, and revenue.
With more than 20 years in digital journalism, Welton has led audience and content strategy at major television news organizations, most recently serving as Director of Digital Content at Griffin Media in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. His work has focused on bridging traditional newsroom practices with modern platforms—helping teams adapt to a landscape defined by newsletters, social video, podcasts, and direct-to-audience publishing.
Welton specializes in helping organizations “activate like a newsroom”—a model that treats content not as isolated outputs, but as a cohesive engine. He works with clients to develop repeatable systems that turn a single idea into multiple formats, including newsletters, articles, video, and audio, distributed across platforms with clarity and purpose.
He is the creator of Oklahoma Memo, a daily newsletter curating the most important journalism across the state. Built without paid acquisition, the publication has grown to nearly 2,000 subscribers with strong engagement, demonstrating the effectiveness of a consistent, audience-first approach to local news.
In addition to his consulting work, Welton hosts the Local Media Association’s “Keep It Local” podcast, where he interviews industry leaders about innovation, sustainability, and transformation in local media.
Welton’s approach combines practical newsroom experience with a clear-eyed understanding of today’s digital ecosystem. He focuses on helping organizations simplify their strategy, execute consistently, and build content operations that are both effective and sustainable.
